The jewel in the crown of West Africa, Ghana is home to the vibrant Ashanti Kingdom, known for its colourful traditional ceremonies. Ghana lies in the region formerly known as the Gold Coast, due to the abundant wealth of the ancient kingdoms here, and is famed for ornate gold jewellery worn as part of the tribal costume.
