WHen is it determined if they use minivans for safari? How often are they used instead of the bigger trucks?

Hi dakgrl,
Thanks for your post!
Our Africa product manager, Sam, advises that the vehicle type is very much tour specific, and the Safari and Maasai for instance is never run in a truck, but always in 4WD landcruisers.
For our overland tours we will almost always run them in a truck, unless we have an unusually small group size, say 5 people or less when we may look at a smaller 4WD vehicle.
If there is a particular tour and departure date that someone is interested in the sales team can check with operations as to what vehicle we would anticipate using based on the current group size.
Whatever vehicle we use, it is always appropriate to the size of the group and the terrain they will be travelling on, and always a comfortable way to travel!

I hope this helps.
