Hello!
I am interested in the West Africa Rhythm and Roots tour, but I have a few questions about the accommodations.
For most nights the tour says we will be "camping", what are the tents like? Will we be staying in designated campsites? Do these campsites have basic ammenities (showers, laundry, etc). Also, is it safe? I'm sure a bunch of campers in the middle of West Africa would be prime taking for thieves. What about bugs and other nasties getting in?
I know I probably sound very 1st world and touristy now, but I've never really camped before let alone in a remote area like West Africa. I'd just like to get a few things cleared up.
Thanks!

West Africa
Thanks Steve for your enquiry into our Rhythm and Roots tour and sincere apologies for the delay in responding. Unfortunately we will no longer be operating this particular trip as Foreign Office advice currently advises against all travel to an area in Mali that is often considered the highlight of this trip - namely Dogon Country. We shall be removing this trip from the website along with our other West Africa trips as they have sadly proved non-viable at the moment.
Out of interest, the accommodation we used on this trip was pretty basic - rooftops and simple campsites - and we certainly could not guarantee showers every night. A huge degree of flexibility is required for travel in West Africa - but the rewards are immense! Why not take a look at our sister company Dragoman's overland trips through West Africa. They operate a 36 day Dakar to Accra or vv travelling through Mali or a 34 day Accra to Douala or vv. Go to www.dragoman.com for more information.
Hope we can get you travelling somewhere soon!
