Hi there,
Anyone else travelling on this trip? Less than two weeks to go - how exciting!! :)
We arrive very early in the morning, so will be around all day for some local exploring (jetlag permitting)
Anyone know roughly how much we should be bringing for spending money? I read that it's not always easy to get international ATMs too, so I'm wondering if we should bring travellers cheques instead of the usual ATM reliance.
Finally - I've got a 60 litre backpack. Do you think this is too big? I can carry it comfortably, and it's served me well for more than 10 years. Maybe I'll just pack it to only 2/3rds full....

Hi Jenstar
Glad to here your excited about your trip to Japan! There are 12 people booked on your tour, this is the maximum group size. Hopefully you will see some of your fellow travellers on the forum.
With regards to money issues - ATM's are available in most post offices and handle cards in nine networks, including Visa, Mastercard, PLUS and Cirrus. However it's a good idea to travel with other money options like travellers checks and/or US Dollars. Please see our Japan Country Dossier for more details on this. For spending money, entrace fees are approx 60-90 USD equivalent for the tour(including optional excurions), add onto this approx 40 USD per day for meals.
Finally - a 60 litre bag sounds fine for a two week trip!
I hope this helps,
Happy travels
David

Hi Jenny
My husband and I will both be on the same tour beginning this coming Saturday. I also have a 60 litre pack and i am going to attempt to pack it loosely so there is room to squish if need be. Our flight comes in at 3pm so i guess we'll be at the hotel around 5:00ish. Where are you from?
We are coming from Nova Scotia.
