Adventure travellers could find Auckland ideal

Thursday, March 18, 2010

Imaginative explorers who like to combine adventure and travel might be interested in a trip to Auckland, New Zealand this year.

The destination is currently a hotbed for all sailing enthusiasts, as it plays host to the Festival of Sail, in which a wide range of international teams are competing to clinch the Louis Vuitton Trophy.

In addition, as part of the event, New Zealand's largest city welcomed the historic America's Cup silver trophy - widely regarded as the oldest in international sport.

Auckland City Mayor John Banks commented that having the prestigious cup on display in Auckland "is a tribute to the Louis Vuitton Trophy and the showcase match racing taking place on our Waitemata Harbour at the moment. May it return again soon, hopefully for a longer stay".

According to Lonely Planet, adventure travellers should head to the Harbour Bridge Bungy & Climb where people can perform a host of adrenaline-fuelled activities.
