Portugal, Spain popular for Europe tours
Friday, March 19, 2010Europe tours to Portugal and Spain remain extremely popular among British travellers, figures from Skyscanner suggest.
According to the flight comparison service, Spain has three cities in the top ten list of most searched-for journeys during the upcoming Easter holiday period - Malaga, Alicante and Barcelona.
In addition, the data showed Portugal's Faro has been the 13th most popular destination in terms of flight searches.
Other locations listed in the top 20 include Paris, Rome, Prague, Madrid and Milan.
Commenting on the findings, the wesbite's co-founder and business development director Barry Smith added: "We're seeing less well-known destinations such as Marrakech and Istanbul rise in popularity."
The Turkish city could well have become a hit this year as it is the 2010 Capital of Culture.
To celebrate the accolade, various festivities have been taking place in Istanbul and will continue throughout the year, covering visual arts, music, education, history and theatre.
