On tour, each stage has been carefully planned with safety in mind in conjunction with our overseas colleagues. Local offices in each destination provide 24 hour support and assistance and comprehensive back-up is instantly available through a huge network of TUI contacts, either in the country itself or back here in the UK.

I dread to think how many school trips of whatever sort I have been involved with over the years and how many tour operators I have used. Some stay the course for a while and some you swear you will never use again. Imaginative Traveller has stayed the course with us and we have used them for trips to Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey. Every trip has been equally successful from both the students' and the teachers' point of view.
So why do we keep using them? I have assembled a brief list, in no particular order
- Tailor made: they will tailor make exactly what you want, making suggestions based on their local knowledge.
- Flexibility: you are not confined to particular days for departure nor for a particular length of trip.
- Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable: you deal with at most 1 or 2 people and you don't have to start from scratch each time you get in contact.
- They are accessible: you can get direct to the person you need by phone or email and when you are away they have a member of staff on 24hr emergency call.
- Their tour guides and leaders reduce party leader stress: their guides and tour leaders work with the party on the ground to provide what is needed, for example, a chance to experience real everyday life, extra activities and so on. We have never been disappointed by the guides who have a sense of what school groups need and how to interact with students.
You may say that's what all tour operators should do, which is true but not only are Imaginative Traveller good when things are going well but when things are getting tough, they are even better. We were stuck in Jordan for an extra week at the end of our recent trip because of the Icelandic volcano and the efforts made by the English end of the Company to keep in touch with school, parents and other bodies (like airlines) was immense. Meanwhile in Jordan, their agents made sure we were housed, fed and provided with extra activities as well as helping to open up channels of communication with the British Consulate and the airline. Consequently, we were on the first 2 planes out of Amman, having been escorted through what was a fraught airport with minimal stress. Our safety and wellbeing were their paramount concern.
