Visit the most impressive sites from Delhi to Varanasi Experience the many impressive facets of northern India from stunning Mughal mausoleums to hidden Rajasthani outposts and from exotic wildlife sanctuaries to holy cities. Starting from Delhi, the capital city, we visit Rajasthan and discover Rajput treasures in off-the-beaten-track places such as Shekhavati as well as the palaces of Jaipur. Our travels take us to the magnificent Taj Mahal and then all the way to Varanasi - the magical, spiritual heart of India, full of colour and chaos. As well as visiting most of the important historical sites in India, we enjoy original and exciting activities such as a camel trek in the desert, a safari in search of tigers in fabulous Ranthambore National Park and a boat trip on the Ganges River - a varied array of exciting experiences.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1(Sun) Arrive in Delhi and transfer to hotel. Afternoon city tour.

Day 2Drive to the ancient trading town of Shekhavati. Admire fine havelis (courtyard homes) and flamboyant frescoes. Overnight in heritage hotel.

Day 3Camel ride to surrounding villages and overnight in mud-brick huts in the Desert Resort.

Day 4Drive to the 'Pink City' of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, and visit the splendid Amber Fort.

Day 5Morning tour of the City Palace and the mystical Palace of the Winds.

Day 6Drive to Ranthambore National Park for afternoon safari in search of tiger.

Day 7-8Drive to Karauli and stay at the elegant Bhanwar Vilas Palace, where His Highness, Krishna Chandra Pal, often joins his guests.

Day 9Drive to Agra, en route visiting the Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary at Bharatpur and the evocative Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri.

Day 10Visit the quintessential Indian monument - the Taj Mahal. Overnight sleeper train to Varanasi.

Day 11-13Visit Sarnath, where Buddha preached his first sermon. Early morning boat ride on the Ganges River at Varanasi. Catch sleeper train back to Delhi.
