Mountains, monasteries, Sherpa culture and stunning views of Mount Everest The Everest region has arguably the most dramatic mountain scenery in the world and you don’t need to go all the way to Base Camp for the best views. This lodge-based trek offers sensational mountain views and an insight into the lives of the Sherpa people. We fly to Lukla and trek up the Dudh Kosi Valley, surrounded by the soaring peaks of Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru. It’s a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, capital of the Khumbu Sherpas, where we are again greeted by spectacular mountain vistas. A rest day here aids acclimatization and we explore the local market and enjoy an optional walk towards Thami.
Everest Adventure
We then follow the trail to the famous Thyangboche Monastery, located under the shadow of Everest, Ama Dablam, Kantega and countless other snow peaks. Our return route takes in the school in Khumjung and the hospital in Kunde, both built in the 1960s by Sir Edmund Hillary. Then it's back to Namche Bazaar before descending to Lukla for the spectacular flight back to Kathmandu.

Trip Itinerary
- Day 1(Sat) Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
- Day 2Kathmandu sightseeing – Pashupatinath Temple and Bodhnath Stupa.
- Day 3Fly to Lukla and commence trek, walking along the Dudh Kosi River Valley to Phakding.
- Day 4-5Follow the valley to Monjo. Ascend to the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar. First views of Mount Everest.
- Day 6Acclimatisation day. Optional walks towards Thami or Kunde-Khumjung.
- Day 7-8Trek to Thyangboche Monastery. Magical views of Everest, Ama Dablam and Kantega.
- Day 9-10Trek to Khumjung and visit Kunde hospital before descending to Phakding and then back to Lukla.
- Day 11Fly to Kathmandu. Free time to explore.
- Day 12Trip ends in Kathmandu this morning (Wed).
